There is free sake in the lobby (3pm-12am) - like 8 kinds. There is also a freezer outside the onsen with free milk popsicles and mango popsicles. The room also comes with free matcha + matcha whisk + matcha bowls. The men’s bath is the rectangle pictured above. The women’s bath is a square against the wall. The shower head in the onsen has a single stream, triple stream and mist mode. There is a 7-11 a few doors down and a Family Mart across the street. The family room also had a microwave and hot water boiler.

Village Kyoto exceeded our expectations. The room was large and comfortable, the breakfasts were delicious, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel had several amenities we hadn't even realized! These included sake tasting every night (with a rotating selection of sake), a bookmark-making station, and an ice cream freezer, where you could help yourself. The location was also very convenient. It was only a 5-minute walk to the subway station and pretty centrally located (just a couple of stops from Kyoto Station). There were also convenience stores, plenty of restaurants, and a supermarket all within a 5-minute walk. The onsen was lovely and relaxing.

Love the traditional Japanese experience our family was able to get from the bed accommodations, to the Japanese bath, the free saki available in the lobby, the pjs and kimonos in the room and bento breakfast. Nespresso coffee and matcha in the room was a nice touch after a busy day. Location was excellent and convenient to the train stations. The staff very friendly and helpful. They were gracious to help us with some arrangements needed for a bike rental and follow up with us to see if we got the supplies needed.

We stayed here for 6 nights. Room was fantastic with plenty of room for 4 people and luggage. Great location close to train station with an easy commute to most areas in Kyoto. Short taxi ride to Kyoto station (approx 1,500 yen). 7 eleven and Family Mart close by. Staff were helpful when asking for assistance. On the day we left I asked if they could call a taxi for us and they ending up going out to the street and hailing a taxi for us (something I didn't expect them to do).

Superb location adjacent to train station and bus routes and local convenience stores. Flexibility of accommodation by design - hotel rooms in Japan are generally very small and it’s difficult to find spacious room that can accommodate a family of 5. Access to traditional Japanese bath and pyjamas. Complementary ice lollies after 3pm which were very welcome given it was unseasonably hot.

Clean, has a microwave oven and a fridge in the room. The family room has sofa that can be unfolded into a bed. There’s a shared hot water minerals spa on the first floor where you can enjoy a free mocha ice cream afterwards. The front desk sells the Kyoto 1-day subway-bus pass which saved us a lot of time. There is also a mini shop at the lobby where I bought a hair pin at rather reasonable price ( I wish I had bought more). Staff were courteous. The breakfast (good selections) was delivered to the room on time. Walking distance to bus stops and convenient stores.

The Japanese style room was relaxing and had enough room for our suitcases and us. They had slippers and robe to use in the room. They did have pajamas if you wanted to use. A large closet for clothes. We did lay out the futon for something besides the low chair to relax on, chairs were comfortable as well. Appreciated the water, coffee maker and tea. Clean. The staff was very helpful setting up a cab for a tour not near public transportation and then for getting to Kyoto station. We did not use the public bath or get the breakfast so cannot comment. Many nearby restaurants and shops and next to train stations. Great location.

I enjoyed very much my stay at Village Kyoto, a modern ryokan, in a typical japanese room with tatami and futon! The atmosphere is magic! The staff as well, very helpful. The position is perfect, 1 min walking from 2 different local railways, and several buses, very easy to go everywhere in Kyoto. The main JR station is not that far by bus. The place is not too much touristic, thus you can live the real city! Breakfast is typical japanese, maybe a bit unsual for western people, but is is OK! There is a public bath, onsen style, I enjoyed every night! Great!

I love the enough space for two families 9 people. Clean bath and enough towels. Elevator helped family members up and down easy with luggages. Looks great living room with balcony. Allowed slips on beds or futon bed with clean bed sheets.
